WR250F

Still able to be road registered and Learner approved.

First launched in 2001 in collaboration with AU/NZ, the WR250F continues to be developed to suit local terrain and riders. Now stepping up the off-road experience to the next level, the new quarter litre weapon features the benchmark YZ250F as a base with a combination of cutting edge off-road features. In doing so YMC engineers have produced the best performing WR250F yet.

Development input by a range of enduro riders over the years is one reason the WR250F continues to outsell its competition. Continual updates based on the hugely successful YZ250F MX weapon is another. This model is currently leading the MXGP championship with French rider Maxime Renaux.

By using the current model YZ250F as a starting point, our experienced development team - including Kiwi race team manager and Yamaha legend Josh Coppins - came up with an enduro weapon that turns, stops and goes better than ever before. The 2022 WR250F is a machine that can be raced straight out of the crate.

Sporting a new aluminium bilateral beam frame, more power with a smoother delivery, slicker gear shifts and stronger braking, the MY22 is improved in all the major areas.

  • High-Tech Quarter-Liter Enduro Racer
The new 2022 WR250F™ builds on Yamaha’s exceptional motocross race platforms—the YZ250F™—with added features and unique settings designed to optimize the WR for enduro riding.
  • Strong and Compact Electric Start Engine
A high-compression cylinder head, forged piston, new cam profiles, new intake port and much more work together to give WR250F riders a broad spread of useable thrust with excellent high-rpm power. All available with the convenient push-button starting that features a compact starter motor system battery.
  • Advanced Alloy Frame
A new bilateral beam aluminum frame is derived straight from the YZ250F but tuned for enduro riding. The control-filled frame centralizes mass and provides an ideal balance between cornering feel and straight-line confidence.
  • Robust Transmission and Clutch
The WR250F’s wide-ratio 6-speed transmission features a new cam shift design for smoother gear shifting and provides the optimized gear for tight technical terrain, as well as wide open fire roads. The clutch system has a specific friction plate combination for heat dissipation and easy clutch lever effort.
  • 270mm Front Brake
Redesigned 270mm front disc brake coupled with aggressive pad material offers outstanding braking performance and machine control with exceptional stopping power.
  • MX Developed Features
As well as using the YZ250Fs engine and chassis as a platform, the new 2022 WR250F also features the latest MX model’s footpegs, bars, bar holders, lightweight front axle and more to offer the full VictorYZone experience.
  • Multi-Function Enduro Meter
The newly designed compact meter has a higher contrast liquid crystal display with a fuel consumption indicator. The meter features two modes: Standard and Race. Standard mode displays the speedometer, two trips meters and clock functions while Race mode features average speed, timer and trip functionality along with low fuel and engine warning lights.
